What Is It?

It's a toy helicopter launched by Mattel in the '70s and early '80s that has an electric motor.  It would fly around in different directions based upon the way the Child pulled the lever. 

What Happened? 

The hard plastic propeller was prone to flying into Kids causing injuries.  I cannot find reports of any specific injuries so likely the damage was rather minor (but picture getting that thing in the eye!)

Aftermath?

Toy helicopters were then created with protectors to prevent trauma from the spinning propeller.
